Tidal Echoes
Southeast Alaska’s Artsand Literary Journal
Published annually since 2004 by the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS), Tidal Echoes is Southeast Alaska’s premier literary and arts journal.
The journal aims to highlight the creative work of both UAS students and the broader Southeast Alaskan community, bringing together the diverse voices and visions of writers and artists, including storytellers, poets, playwrights, photographers, weavers, carvers, and more.
Every year, a team of UAS students is selected to edit and manage the production of Tidal Echoes, under the mentorship of Emily Wall, UAS Professor of English. This opportunity to learn about editing, publishing, and promotion is an invaluable real world experience for undergraduate students.
This year’s fall semester editor intern is Roshan (Rosh) Rayback, a senior at UAS majoring in social sciences and creative writing. As an editor, Rosh promotes the journal, compiles submissions, and prepares them for the spring semester editors (Adonis Scalia and Annie Kessler). Rosh also conducts interviews with the featured artist Liz Zacher, and writer Corinna Cook.

Submitting to Tidal Echoes
Tidal Echoes provides an opportunity for both emerging and established artists to share their work. The editorial team seeks to amplify local voices, preserve cultural narratives, and serve as a conduit for artistic expression within Alaska. Please consider submitting your work for consideration!
The 2025 edition of Tidal Echoes is accepting submissions until December 1, 2024.
Launch Party
Print editions of Tidal Echoes release each April at the Launch Party on the UAS Juneau campus and streaming on YouTube. Join featured artists and writers for an extraordinary evening celebrating the creative arts in Southeast Alaska.
