AK Native Artist Residency: Kris Waymire

Kris Waymire is an Iñupiaq and Peruvian multimedia artist who creates mostly with beads and textiles. They are the SJM Native Artist in Residence from September 16 – 30, 2026. Waymire will focus on sewing their mother’s sealskin parka, give a moccasin making workshop, and give a talk about whaling during their September residency.
