STEAM Academy for High Schoolers

“Opening the Box: Summer STEAM Academy” (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) for high schoolers focuses on traditional ecological knowledge and STEAM career connections – Apply by Thursday, May 2nd.
Students can earn high school credit while working alongside Elders and professional researchers to build a deeper connection to the place we call home. Learning strands will include marine mammals, geo-cultural mapping, and stewardship. Students who complete the academy will receive dual science credits: 3 credits in college environmental science and ½ high school science credit for satisfactory attendance and participation. - The Academy will be hosted at the UAS Juneau campus – evening events will include dinner & cultural activities.
- The Academy is a 10-day overnight camp from July 24 – August 2. Meals, transportation, and all other camp supplies will be provided
- Students will need to bring overnight supplies and clothing (packing list will be sent out). All other camp supplies will be provided.
