UAS Art Dept. Updates

At the UAS Sitka Open House on Tuesday Nov. 14, 2023, the Art Dept.’s Liz Zacher spoke about upcoming and Spring opportunites.
- Now until Dec. 1st, noted Zacher, is the application period for The Thomas Brown Ceramic Education Award, sponsored by the Sitka Conservation Society and the Living Wilderness Fund – read more & apply at TBCEramics@sitkawild.org.
- Zacher displayed a copy of “Tidal Echoes” – “SE Alaska’s literary and art journal” – open to all in the community, produced by UAS and featuring local poetry, prose and visual arts. The submission deadline will be Dec. 1st.
She also spoke about UAS Sitka’s Spring art offerings and featured artists:
Spring offerings include: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Ceramics; B/I/A Artists’ Studio; and Art Appreciation. Featured artists in the Spring will include Holly Churchill and Dolly Garza.
Zacher is Associate Professor of Art at UAS Sitka and Regional Coordinator for the NW Coast Arts Program. Supporting her work at UAS Sitka are adjunct faculty members such as ceramicist Matt Fiske.
